My name is Miria Bowers. I am a non-binary lesbian poet (they/them/theirs pronouns) and undergraduate scholar currently in residence at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Presently I am majoring in History with a minor in Queer Studies. After my undergrad I plan to go into Library Science so that I can become a librarian (public or academic) serving queer and marginalized communities through free and easy access to literature and information.

This website encompasses both academia and poetry. My academic writings cover topics such as literary and historical analysis, the impact of different art forms and media on politics and social groups (and vice versa), police and prison abolition, and arguing the merit of lesser-known queer theory, history, and art. I am also a short story writer and zine contributor, and have had my poetry published in projects such as Queen Spirit Zine, btwn sheets, and Lesbians Are Miracles.

When not in class or brewing something up at my computer, you can find me making tea in my apartment, wandering around the nearest library, or consorting with my cat familiar (his name is Clio).
